Beneficiaries of the TSSI are selected through a rigorous process. The Ghana Education Service’s (GES) list of less-endowed secondary schools provides the primary source of potential beneficiaries. The list includes data on students admitted to either the University of Ghana, UCC or KNUST, including their secondary schools’ regional affiliations, aggregate obtained in WASSCE, and program of study.

Each year, the initiative aims to select10 students, with one student from each of the ten regions of Ghana. However, due to the recent creation of new regions, plans are being initiated to select one student from all sixteen regions.

Beneficiaries have sometimes been recommended by the Board of Trustees or have received assistance following appeals made through social media.
